Public Broadcasting Services yesterday filed a judicial letter accusing the Broadcasting Authority of acting beyond the powers given to it by the Constitution when it fined the national TV station.

The broadcasting watchdog had ruled that the March 8 edition of the television programme Bondiplus had violated political impartiality rules and fined PBS €1,164.

PBS is insisting the regulator failed to take into consideration all the circumstances of the case before making its decision and was in fact in breach of the powers given to it by the Constitution and the Broadcasting Act.
