In reply to Maria Abela's letter (Payment For Trolleys Needed Worldwide, March 12), I am not against the charge for the use of the trolley and said so in my first letter. It was the surprise of the introduction of the charge I commented on.

I visit Malta five or six times a year. I am not a one-off tourist. It does not happen all over the world to be charged for trolleys. No charges are made in the UK or Spain.

It will not put me off coming again; I will be returning very soon.

My letter was intended to let people know in the UK that there is a refundable charge that they may not know about, as many in the UK read The Times.
