New Orleans point guard Chris Paul set an NBA record by recording a steal in his 106th consecutive game against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday.

The fourth-year All-Star got the steal in the second quarter to surpass Spurs guard Alvin Robertson who set the mark of 105 from 1985 to 1986.

Paul began the streak in April 2007, a year in which he led the league in steals and finished second in the NBA's MVP voting while guiding the Hornets to the Western Conference semi-finals.

Paul entered Wednesday's contest leading the league in steals with an average of 2.8 per game.
