A former AFM patrol boat, the P-31, will be scuttled off Comino on Monday to eventually become an artificial reef and an added attraction for divers.

The patrol boat, which belongs to the Kondor class and which was bought from the former East German Navy, was decommissioned five years ago.

The scuttling operation, which is expected to be carried out between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., will be coordinated by Cassar Ship Repairs. The P-31 and its sister-ship P-29 were the biggest units in the AFM fleet, characterised by a big aft-deck. The P-29 was scuttled off Ċirkewwa on August 13, 2007.
