Between January and September 2009 there were 286 patients receiving end-stage renal disease treatment at Mater Dei Hospital.

The information was given by Health Minister Joseph Cassar in reply to a parliamentary question by Anthony Agius Decelis (PL). Answering another question by Mr Agius Decelis, Dr Cassar said that at the end of November 2009 there had been 112 patients receiving continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) treatment on out-patient basis. Between January and September 2009 there had been 174 patients making use of haemodialysis at Mater Dei.
