Tenor Christopher Busietta is returning to Malta to perform with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra in Passions and Mysteries, their second orchestral concert of the season, at the Mediterranean Conference Centre on Sunday.

Resident conductor Maestro Michael Laus will lead the orchestra and soloists Miriam Gauci (soprano), Claire Massa (alto), Busietta (tenor), Alfred Camilleri (baritone) and Albert Buttigieg (bass)in a concert comprising two choral works that will serve to heighten the Lenten spirit.

They will be accompanied by the Goldberg Vocal Ensemble.

The programme comprises one of Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s most celebrated sacred works – the Stabat Mater – and Anton Nani’s Responsori a Quartetto per il Giovedì Santo, a rarely-performed, 19th-century collection of psalms and responsorials revolving around the Passion.

The concert starts at 8pm. Tickets at €10 and €15 may be obtained by e-mail: bookings@mcc.com.mt, online at www.maltaorchestra.com or by calling 2559 5750.
