Three Britons were today each fined €500 after admitting to drug possession while partying in Malta over the weekend.

Appearing in front of Magistrate Antonio Vella, wearing shorts and t-shirts, the two men and a woman, pleaded guilty to the charges.

They formed part of almost 8,000 foreigners who came to Malta over the past week for a series of parties called Lost and Found held in different locations around the island.

They were arrested by the police yesterday along with 17 other people. More than 70 youngsters linked to the music and dance festival were arrested because of drug possession over the past few days.

Claire Lewis, 27, was charged with possession of ecstasy and cocaine, Aidan Goodwin, 18, was charged with possession of ecstasy, while Ricky Law, 31, was charged with possession of ecstasy and MDMA.

The three of them had drugs that exceeded the legal threshold for simple possession, which is why they appeared before the duty magistrate and not the Drugs Court.

Inspector Kevin Pulis prosecuted.
