Updated: Many people paused from their normal morning routine this morning to enjoy an eclipse of the sun which reached its peak at 9.05 a.m.

The celestial wonder was observed from Malta and many other countries.

Seen from Malta, 61 per cent of the sun’s diameter were hidden at a maximum. Happily, the clouds cleared just in time to give viewers a wonderful view.

The moon started to encroach on the sun’s disk at 7.47 a.m. and it to leave it at 10.34 a.m.

A solar eclipse happens when the moon crosses the sun from the earth’s viewpoint.
