Transport Malta said this afternoon that owing to emergency works, the slip road linking the Hamrun/Marsa Bypass to the roundabout at Qormi Road  and one of the lanes of the bypass in the direction towards Marsa have been closed to traffic.

Motorists were urged to  avoid the area and to proceed with caution.  Police and other personnel are on site to direct traffic.

The closure is understood to have been caused by falling debris from a retaining wall.

Workers were working on repairs well into the evening.
