The Infrastructure Ministry has closed off part of the belvedere at Wied Iz-Zurrieq because underlying rocks are in danger of collapse.

The ministry said the risk of collapse, owing to natural reasons, had been confirmed in an inspection made using a drone and boats as well as on-land inspections near the Blue Grotto.

New access to the remaining part of the belvedere is being provided.

The area in danger of collapse will remain closed under works are carried out.
