The people feel betrayed and angry that the Prime Minister has not taken any action about the revelation that his Energy Minister and his chief of staff had opened up secret companies in Panama.

Speaking during an interview on Net TV, Dr Busuttil said the country was going through a corruption crisis and people could no longer keep up with all the scandals being uncovered.

Dr Muscat, Dr Busuttil said, should immediately remove his chief of staff Keith Schembri and Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi from their positions.

“The country is going through a moral leadership crisis, as Joseph Muscat is not distinguishing between right and wrong,” he said.

Noting that the Prime Minister took different approaches with different ministers, Dr Busuttil asked what was Dr Muscat’s interest in the matter.

Dr Busuttil also spoke on the Nationalist Party saying it had undergone major changes over the past three years and now represented new ideas and people.

Dr Busuttil said the Opposition was setting the agenda and proving to be an alternative to the Labour government, with clear proposals about the economy and good governance.

The party would be coming up with proposals about the environment and the traffic problem later this year, he said.

Busuttil should speak about Ann Fenech - PL

In a reply, the Labour Party said Dr Busuttil would do well to talk about PN president Ann Fenech, whose law firm had two companies in Panama. Dr Busuttil, it said, should say who was behind these two companies.

Dr Busuttil should also ask his deputy leader Beppe Fenech Adami why he was uncomfortable submitting himself to a tax audit.

The PL said the Opposition leader should speak up about Claudio Grech, whose testimony before the public accounts committee was called into question by e-mails published by a local newspaper.

The party said Dr Busuttil has zero credibility, having told off the whistle blower in the ‘works-for-votes’ case involving the husband of former Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono for going ahead with the works when it was clear that the general election was going to be lost.
