Palumbo Shipyard has completed works on the supertanker Cumhuriyet (164,859T), one of the biggest vessels to enter drydock in the dockyard in Malta.

The Istanbul-registered vessel  was built in 2001 and is 274.18m long, with a beam of 50.04m. It is owned and managed by Ditas Deniz and this was their first vessel here.

During its 10 days in Malta, the ship underwent steel repairs and works on its underwater sea valves, propulsion engineering works which included the removal of the propeller and withdrawal of the tail-shaft, extensive hull treatment and resultant painting of all the vessel.
