The Prince of Wales Own Band Club, and the St Dominic External Festivities Committee said this evening they were disgusted over an act of vandalism against the street statue of St Dominic in Vittoriosa.

Red paint was thrown at the stone statue early this morning.

“This was an act against our religious beliefs and the institution of the Church in Malta and should be condemned by all,” the two organisations said.

“We expect that the ecclesiastical and civil authorities take the necessary action to avoid a repetition this repulsive behaviour reminiscent of the dark ages, by a few persons who tarnish the image of the people of Vittoriosa and us Catholics in general.”
