Kenneth Zammit Tabona, in a recent article in The Times, questioned whether Maltese festivals are God-honouring or pagan.

I may be wrong, but as I interpret our Bible, God condemns all pagan festivals resulting in riotous behaviour, debauchery, the worship of false idols, etc.

Throughout the Old and New Testaments we read about how God judges and takes action against them. However, I am confident that Malta, being a devout religious community, is well aware of God's warnings. He alone knows the intents of our hearts, both for good and evil.

Having said this I would be the first to congratulate all God-fearing and honouring citizens who glorify him annually, with unreserved conviction.
