Maltese singer Ozzy Lino will be lending his voice to Rockin'1000, the biggest rock band in the world, in what promises to be a unique rock concert in Italy.

The Maltese/Australian singer was selected from thousands of applications to take part at the concert in Cesena, Italy on July 24 featuring a band of no less than 1,000 musicians.

Rockin'1000 shot into the limelight after last year when 1,000 musicians gathered to sing the Foo Fighters' Learn to Fly to appeal to the American band to perform in Cesena.

The video turned into an online sensation to the extent that the Foo Fighters decided to include tiny Cesena on their tour circuit.

This year the organisers decided to play an open concert in one venue featuring 15 classic rock songs.

Ozzy Lino has expressed an interest in performing two songs at the concert - The Verve's Bittersweet Symphony and The White Stripes' Seven Nation Army.

"I'm really looking forward to playing with what has to be nothing but the largest rock band in the world. This is something extraordinary and I feel very proud I can represent Malta in this event. I believe that everybody else participating is Italian so I'm very happy to be a part of this year's event."

Ozzy Lino shot into the international spotlight after an impromptu performance on the Frankfurt subway was captured on video and posted on Facebook, generating millions of views. Born in Malta, and raised in Australia, before returning to the island, Ozzy Lino has years of experience as a musician on stage, in the studio, on the radio, and on television.
