The owner of a Renault Megane saloon was flabbergasted when police informed him that the car, which he had entrusted to an auto dealer for repairs, had ended up totally ravaged and abandoned in a Ta’ Qali field.

Aldo Agius on Wednesday filed a judicial protest against Auto Sales Limited after they were unable to explain how the car, purchased for €15,000, had ended up in such a state.

He explained that he had  recently forked out additional €5,000 to ensure that the car was in good condition. He had garaged the vehicle at the company’s premises, safe in the knowledge that it would be appropriately taken care of.

Yet, a police patrol found the vehicle evidently abandoned and practically destroyed, in a field at Ta’ Qali.

Mr Agius in his protest requested the company to make good the damages suffered or else face ulterior legal action.

Lawyers Shaheryar Ghaznavi and Charlon Gouder signed the judicial protest.
