The owners of expropriated land in Fgura this morning filed a judicial protest against the Commissioner of Land calling on him to come to an agreement on the payment due for the said land.

The owners said the land, of an area greater than 3,000 metres squared, had been expropriated for public use twice - in 1967 and in 1984.

They said that while their architect had estimated the value of the land at more than €3 million, the Lands Commissioner informed them he was disposed to pay them €158,100.

They said that although they made several attempts for an agreement to be reached, the Commissioner still did not fulfil his obligations.

The protest was signed by lawyer Jos A. Schembri.
