The 66-year-old owner of a shoe shop in Rabat was seriously injured in a hold-up yesterday afternoon.

The police said two hooded men armed with a knife entered the shop in College Street at around 4pm and stole a considerable amount of money.

Sources said the police are on the look-out for the getaway car used in the hold-up.

In another incident yesterday, two men allegedly entered an elderly woman’s house in Swieqi and tied her up.

She managed to free herself after about half an hour and raise the alarm with the neighbours, according to sources. She was in shock but not injured. Nothing was reported stolen.
