Sporadic overloading from waste discharged into the public sewers from farms has caused problems as treatment plans and occasional slicks of partially-treated sewage in the sea off the coast of Xgħajra, Ic-Cumnija, Mellieha and Ras il-Ħobz, Gozo, the Water Services Corporation said.

The corporation said the discharges were causing both blockages and disruptions at the treatment plants.

It appealed to all industries, but particularly to farms, not to dump illegal waste into the public sewers.
