Iron scaffolding and wooden planks were erected several months ago yet the actual repair work on the balconies at Bastion Street, Senglea, has not yet started. What a shame.

To make matters worse, a couple of months ago the wind blew away some of these wooden planks, endangering people’s lives and damaging property.

After numerous complaints to the competent authority, a man was sent over to put the planks back in place. This was done in a very unprofessional way, as these large wooden planks were tied together with pieces of thin wire.

Whoever was responsible ignored the recommendation by our local council to have these planks properly secured by iron bolts.

The bottom line is that after all these months the residents are still frustrated as they don’t have the slightest idea when the actual work is going to start.

This is government property and such excessive delay and an ‘I don’t care attitude’ should not be tolerated.
