During a recent visit to Mater Dei Hospital we received very helpful, efficient and dedicated service, but this was marred by the lack of co-operation shown to outpatients by some staff.

Lack of co-operation between some sections prevails but a monolithic institution like Mater Dei Hospital is bound to have teething troubles. What cannot be tolerated is the indifferent approach towards outpatients by certain members of staff who completely ignore simple enquiries made by the public.

"Wait till we call you" is the stock reply to outpatients without even caring to listen to their query or statement. After an hour or so you incidentally realise that you are in the wrong place. To add insult to injury these people try to convince you that it is your fault.

To err is human but mistakes arising from carelessness and indifference are hard to tolerate.

A minority is tarnishing the outstanding image of an efficient staff so indispensable for the running of the hospital.
