An outline development plan for the redevelopment of the Buskett Forest Aparthotel was granted by the Malta Environment and Planning Authority this morning, against a number of conditions.

The hotel has been granted outline permit to be redeveloped into a 58-room four-star aparthotel, which will mainly target rural tourism.

It was evident during this morning’s Mepa meeting that the board was concerned that the aparthotel could eventually be turned into permanent residences.

Because of the sensitive area it was in, next to a Natura 2000 site, Mepa was not prepared to permit this and its conditions included banning the transformation of the hotel into permanent residences.
