Australian tennis player Lleyton Hewitt and his wife Bec Cartwright had a baby daughter yesterday. The couple's first child was born in Sydney. The girl has not been named yet.

"Lleyton and Bec are absolutely thrilled," the couple's manager Rob Aivatoglou said in a statement released by Tennis Australia.

The pair are one of Australia's best-known celebrity couples.

Hewitt is a former Wimbledon and US Open champion while Cartwright was an actress in the Australian television soap opera "Home and Away".

Hewitt had been due to tie the knot with Belgian tennis player Kim Clijsters in February but she called the wedding off following a four-year relationship.

Motor racing - Wheldon ends F1 speculation

Indianapolis 500 winner Dan Wheldon ended speculation about a switch to Formula One by moving to a new team in the IndyCar series.

The 27-year-old Briton finished a three-year spell with the Andretti Green Racing team by agreeing to drive for Ganassi Racing in 2006, said the Indy Racing League (IRL).

Wheldon won this season's IRL and, in May, became the first British winner of the Indy 500 since Graham Hill in 1966.

SpeedTV.com reported last month that Wheldon was set to become a Formula One test driver before landing a race seat in 2007.

Cricket - Pakistan peg England back

Pakistan restricted England to 248 for six despite a battling maiden half century from Paul Collingwood on the first day of the third test yesterday.

Pakistan took six wickets in the final two sessions after captain Michael Vaughan (58) and Marcus Trescothick (50) had put on 101 for the first wicket.

Collingwood, playing in his fourth test, got a lucky break on 54 with the total of 219 for five when umpire Darrell Hair failed to spot an inside edge off Shoaib Akhtar to wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal.

The right-hander was undefeated on 71 from 117 balls and Shaun Udal unbeaten on 10 when bad light ended play 13 overs early.
