Eleven leading organisations in Malta marked the 10th annual Corporate Social Responsibility Day today with employees volunteering a day’s work at 11 homes which help various vulnerable people facing different social problems.

Each company was assigned to a different organisation.

Employees from Alf Mizzi and Sons worked at Dar Sagra Familja, Zabbar; Deloitte employees at the Dar Qalb ta’ Ġesù in Sta Venera whilst volunteers from the Gasan Group of Companies helped out at Dar Ġesu Nazzarenu in Zejtun.

HSBC Bank Malta and Enemalta, supported by members of Junior Chamber International (Malta) and the Maltese Association of The Sovereign Military and Hospitaller Order of Malta, helped out at Fejda and St Jeanne Antide Home in Santa Venera; MSV Life at the Caritas Rehabilitation Shelter at San Blas, Malta Enterprise at Dar Merhba Bik, Simonds Farsons Cisk at Aġenzija Sapport in Ħal Far, Tumas Group staff at Mater Graziae Home in Marsascala, Vassallo Group of Companies at St Joseph’s Home in Santa Venera and Watson Arrow Pharm helped out at the St Therese Home in Zurrieq.

The volunteers were visited by acting president Anton Tabone, Archbishop Paul Cremona, and Mrs Catherine Gonzi, chairman of the HSBC Malta Foundation, who thanked all the volunteers for their sterling work and for their participation in this initiative.

“I’m sure I speak on behalf of all those organisations that have so willingly leant a helping hand for today’s community activities in saying that we are all delighted to be able to help those who are less fortunate.

“We’ve shown what a difference we can make and I hope we can encourage more companies to join us in future activities.” said Alan Richards, CEO HSBC Malta, on behalf of the CSR Day Organising Committee, which is made up of a representative from each of the participating companies.
