Paving works in Ordnance Street, Valletta, have been completed but Infrastructure Minister Joe Mizzi this morning could not say when the monti open market will move there from Merchants' Street.

The preparations for the move were being made by another ministry, he said, but the move would be made when all works on the City Gate project were completed. Infrastructure Minister Joe Mizzi said that his ministry had collaborated with the Economy Ministry to prepare uniform stalls.

The new paving consists of lava and hardstone. The project, costing €350,000, included the laying of new utility services. The Infrastructure Ministry last July ordered a contractor to re-lay the paving in Ordinance Street after the required standards were not reached.

Mr Mizzi said his ministry will also be restoring the Tritons and Wignacourt fountains and Wignacourt Tower. Paving works will be carried out in Triq Mikiel Anton Vassalli, Triq it-Teżorerija and Strada Stretta.
