Oratory Youths 2
SK Victoria W. 1

Oratory Youths improved their chances of avoiding bottom place in the Division Two standings after surprising neighbours SK Victoria Wanderers to chalk up their first victory of the season.

The Wanderers were perhaps overconfident as they looked to retain sole leadership in the standings.

Now, they are sharing top spot, on 20 points, with Xewkija Tigers and St Lawrence Spurs after all three contenders have played 10 matches each.

The Wanderers saw more of the ball but were erratic in their finishing.

Oratory had keeper Kelly Grima in excellent form as they took a two-goal lead in the first half from an Ishaku Umoru penalty, in the 18th minute, and an Andrew Zammit goal just before the break.

The Wanderers fought back in the second half but only managed to reduce the deficit 12 minutes from time from a penalty converted by Ajibade Adesina.

Referee: Anton Zammit.
