Opposition leader Charles Mangion has submitted his letter of resignation from the post, clearing the way for Joseph Muscat to succeed him.

Dr Mangion presented his resignation letter to President Eddie Fenech Adami. It takes effect tomorrow, when Dr Muscat will be sworn in after being co-opted to Parliament.

Dr Mangion was appointed opposition leader in June after Alfred Sant resigned.
