The Chamber of Advocates had an important role in society not just in its representation of lawyers but also in its representation of the best interests of justice, Opposition leader Simon Busuttil said today during a meeting with the chamber.
Dr Busuttil said justice in Malta was currently facing a number of difficulties so the role of the Chamber was more important than ever before. These ranged from the implementation of measures such as appointments in the justice sector, to the wider implementation of justice.
He said that if good governance failed, justice would have failed.
For abuses in government departments led to scandals and appointments in public positions through the use of public funds.
