Update 14:55 with PL reaction

The Opposition leader has passed on to the Auditor General a letter and documents the party had received before the last election containing a proposal for the building of a new power station.

Speaking in Parliament during the debate on the Opposition’s motion of no confidence in the government, Dr Busuttil had explained there was no doubt that the Labour Party had received a similar proposal and reached an agreement about it.

The auditor general is currently investigating, on a request of the Opposition, the government’s actions during and after the contract award for the building of a new power statement, as well as the unprecedented €360 state guarantee given for the project.

In a reply, the PL did not deny Dr Busuttil's claim.

"Simon Busuttil has confirmed that he had a proposal to switch to gas [powered electricity] and reduce rates but did nothing about it. Why didn't he speak up about it earlier?," the party wondered in a statement.

Dr Busuttil’s letter to the Auditor General can be read in the attached link below.
