The Birkirkara St Joseph SC Open Sea Swim Series 2003 has already held its first two races and in both instances the turnout was very encouraging.

The race was won by Mark Zammit in 19 mins 29 secs, followed by Keith Galea and Gordon Vassallo. In the ladies' category, Angele Cremona had a very strong swim to place first ahead of Maria Mifsud Bonnici and Debbie Micallef Eynaud, all Birkirkara St Joseph members.

For the second swim, from Neptunes to Sliema pitch, 32 swimmers participated. Zammit again dominated the race from start to finish, completing the distance in 25:30.

Second and third places went to Kurt Arrigo and Chris Spiteri.

Isabelle Zarb won the ladies' race with Tara Baldacchino and Cremona placing second and third respectively.
