Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi this afternoon visited an open weekend, being held until tomorrow, at the MCAST Institute of Agribusiness at Luqa Road in Qormi to provide prospective students and their parents with a clear idea of the various learning and training opportunities and resources available.

Activities include apiculture, environmental management sessions, a fancy poultry and rabbit show, guided tours to the animal husbandry units and cultivated fields, a display of hydroponics as well floriculture, crop and herb production.

Pet owners are encouraged to take their pets over for free grooming.

Several products are on sale. These include honey, marmalade and jams, carob syrup, traditional Maltese herbs, fresh vegetables, black Maltese chicks, live rabbits, gerbils and dwarf rabbits.

The institute is open until 7 p.m. today and tomorrow it will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Entrance is free and childcare activities are being organised.

Career Guidance Officers are also available to provide information on the MCAST courses.

The open weekend was today also visited by Rural Affairs Minister George Pullicino.
