The National Museum of Archaeology in Republic Street, Valletta, will be open on free admission this Sunday.

The museum exhibits a range of artefacts dating back to Malta’s Neolithic period (5,200 BC) up to the Phoenician Period (400 BC). Highlights include the ‘Sleeping Lady’ (discovered in Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum), the ‘Venus of Malta’ (from Ħaġar Qim), bronze daggers (recovered from the Bronze Age layers at Tarxien Temples), the Horus and Anubis pendant, and the anthropomorphic sarcophagus, both belonging to the Phoenician Period.

Visitors can also explore the temporary exhibition Core and Periphery: Mdina and Safi in the 9th and 10th centuries which sheds light on the Medieval Period in Malta, Heritage Malta said.

Opening hours are 9am to 6pm (last admission at 5.30pm).
