The Leone Philharmonic Society of Victoria is celebrating the 63rd anniversary from the donation of the Statue of the Assumption of Our Lady to the Cathedral parish.

As part of the programme of activities, the society is organising an open day in its seat and its Aurora Opera House in Republic Street, Victoria.

The open day will be organised on Saturday and will include various activities set around music. Among the various activities, two musical sessions will be organised specifically for children.

At 4pm, children aged three to six are invited to join the Peter and the Wolf music session by Helga Vella, while at 5.30pm, children aged seven to 11 are invited to join the Creating Music Together session. These musical sessions for children are free of charge but reservation is requested on info@leone.org.mt or 9913 0694 by today. The sessions will be no longer than an hour and a half. A small gift will be given.

Masterclasses for band members will also be organised throughout the day.

The programme will be as follows – 9am: brass masterclass by Alex Bezzina; 10.30am: woodwinds masterclass by Michael Pirotta and 2pm percussion masterclass by Michael Camilleri.
