An open day will be held today at the first night shelter for the elderly in Gozo, a collaborative effort between government and the Church, ahead of its opening tomorrow.

Parliamentary Secretary for the Elderly Justyne Caruana spoke about the centre as she greeted senior citizens who took part in a pilgrimage to Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary organised by the local branch of the Knights of Malta. Mass was celebrated by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech.

The activity was held in collaboration with the Active Ageing team of St Vincent de Paul Home in Malta. The night shelter in Għajnsielem will take 12 elderly people.
