A “quick pick” won a lotto player, who rarely tries his luck, a quaterno jackpot amounting to €460,000.

“I am still under shock” the bemused winner admitted to Maltco Lotteries staff when he called to collect his handsome cheque. “My wife and I hardly ever play lotto but as we were passing by a Maltco outlet we decided to try our luck. In fact, we did not have any favourite numbers to play, so we asked the agent for a quick pick,” he recounted.

The jackpot was won last Saturday when the four winning numbers, 54-69–7-79, were guessed. The ticket was purchased from a Maltco Lotteries agent in Ta’ Xbiex late morning on the date of the draw.

Maltco said this was the second such attractive quaterno jackpot win in the space of under five months.

Maltco’s general director, Mario Cassar, said the quaterno game had steadily increased in popularity mainly due to the fact that the minimum appealing jackpot of €200,000 was increased weekly until it was won.

Quaterno also offers players chances to win with three and also with two numbers.
