A building being demolished has partially collapsed in the heart of New York City, killing one person.

The fire department said the collapse was reported at a building on West 38th Street in midtown Manhattan.

Sixty firefighters are at the scene.

The fatality was a construction worker and another remains trapped beneath the rubble.
