A 21-year-old man who was charged with holding up a lotto office was yesterday jailed for six weeks for breaching bail conditions when he overstepped his curfew by just over an hour.

Keith Cremona, 21, of Valletta, pleaded guilty to breaching the bail conditions when he was caught away from home at 10.15 p.m. on Saturday. According to the bail conditions, he was meant to be indoors by 9 p.m.

Last year, Mr Cremona and another man were charged with the armed robbery of a lotto office in Annunciation Street, Sliema, on November 21. 2007. The curfew was among the bail conditions he was given.

During submissions on punishment, Mr Cremona's lawyer, Malcolm Mifsud, pointed out that his client was "an exemplary accused" since he had never breached bail conditions before.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke jailed Mr Cremona for six weeks.

Police Inspector Joseph Mercieca prosecuted.
