A street vendor regularly takes up some seven to eight spaces at the Victoria car park to display his wares. Given the parking problems in the area, does he have permission to do this? Other hawkers there take up only one spot.

Valuable space

Parking problems in Pembroke are on the rise, yet, some seem to be going out of their way to make them worse. One example is an old truck/kiosk residents say has been gathering dust there for the past three years. Permanently parked in front of the church and next to the primary school, it occupies two parking spaces. Complaints to the local council seem to go unnoticed, residents complain.

Repairs needed

A pavement by a bus stop in Valley Road, Birkirkara is in urgent need of maintenance. Pedestrians are being forced to risk life and limb every time they walk by the area, having to step off onto the road and face oncoming traffic. The pavement needs to be repaired before it’s too late and somebody is injured.

Dry garden

Panoramic Gardens, at Ta’ Kenuna Tower, Nadur are in shambles, visitors say. Plastic bottles and overgrown weeds litter the pond there while soil all around the endemic shrubs and trees are bone dry. It appears as though there has not been any watering for weeks, if not months. The place looks totally abandoned. Who is responsible for the gardens?

More of the same

Residents are once again calling on the authorities to ensure the streets of Ta’ Xbiex and Gżira are kept clean and free from hazardous waste, such as used syringes. Such waste poses a danger to residents who say similar reports have already been made to the councils in the past. When will things change?
