Once again, a bath tub was dumped at Mtaħleb. Such illegal dumping has become the order of the day, it seems, with many resorting to getting rid of their waste in these areas. There are different ways and means to dispose of bulky waste in a regular way, so why are people still resorting to such uncivilised practices?

Sheer negligence

A large amount of unwanted household garbage was dumped on the side of the road and the pavement in Triq il-Qasam, Swieqi, last week. The waste remained there for days on end. Certainly the powers that be can do something to apprehend the culprits.

Pole position

How are wheelchair users and those with pushchairs supposed to make use of this pavement in Triq il-Vjola, Marsascala, when an old, electricity pole that is no longer in use blocks their way? Why is this pole still there?

Daring drivers

Some people think they can park just about anywhere in Valletta and they seem to be getting away with it too, never getting booked. A car, with an expired road licence to boot, could be seen parked in this way last week. It seems enforcement and discipline has gone to the dogs.

Urgent resurfacing

The road leading from St Paul’s Bay to the Qawra coast needs urgent attention, residents say. Such is the state of the road that drivers are having to manoeuvre around potholes that are getting worse by the day.

Mouldy ceiling

Patients admitted to Mater Dei Hospital’s emergency room were last week shocked to notice mould on the ceiling above their cubicle. This is unacceptable in a hospital, where hygiene should always be top priority.
