Near standstill

Buses using the bus lane just on the way to St Anne’s Street were brought to a near standstill on Thursday morning at peak time, caught behind the mounted officers who normally attend swearing-in ceremonies. It may not have caused that much delay in the great scheme of things but was still rather irritating for those on board the bus.

Same old, same old

Why is it that year after year, University students are forced to endure an anxious wait for results months after they have sat for their exams? Some students who complained to this newspaper said that while they only had a few exams to sit for, with only a handful of students in the course, the results had not yet been issued. Will things ever change?

Inconsiderate bus driver

A bus driver decided to answer a call on his mobile just after he had drawn into a bus stop, leaving the doors closed so that no one could get on or off the bus until he had completed the call. The idea of the passenger coming first is clearly not yet embedded in their culture.

Dangerous practice

San Ġwann residents are concerned about a bowser selling water at the upper end of Triq il-Bies. They say he has been warned time and again by the authorities that the road is in the process of caving in. However, recently the bowser could be seen passing through the road regularly. Could the authorities please put a stop to this?

Raising a stink

A truck presumably used to empty septic tanks was leaking badly as it passed through Għargħur recently. Drivers stuck behind the truck for some two kilometres claimed liquid from the truck was spilled everywhere. To make matters worse, the liquid had an awful smell. Authorities take note.
