Recycling bins at Għajn Tuffieħa are in a filthy state, with people resorting to throwing rubbish all over the area since some of the bins are overflowing. These have been vandalised and have clearly not been maintained recently. How can recycling be encouraged when bins are left in such a state? Authorities take note.

Impractical pavement

Why are pavements built to such heights? It is not only dangerous and inconvenient for pedestrians but drivers are also unable to properly open their doors, forcing them to park further away and on to the street.

Blatant disregard

The drivers of government cars seem to think they are above the law and can park anywhere they want. This was the case last week when a car with registration plates clearly indicating that it was a government car could be seen parked on a double yellow lines. This column has often reported similar cases yet it seems nothing is being done to solve the problem.

Unfinished job

Works on a low wall in Vilhena Garden, Floriana, started some months back. Old stone slabs were removed and bricks were placed there instead, in a way that indicated it was a temporary job. However, they are still on site. Since they do not appear to be cemented to each other, they can easily be pushed over and there is quite a drop to a ditch below. Hopefully, the local council will do something about it.

No end in sight

There seems to be no end in sight to the works at the stretch of road linking Lija to Mosta, near the Pama supermarket. The road was hurriedly opened at Christmas time only to be closed off again once the festivities were over. The diversion in place makes is not only an inconvenience but is also contributing to the traffic problems in the area.
