After this column raised the point about an open electricity panel in one of the lanterns along Ġlormu Cassar Avenue, in Valletta, a wooden board was nailed across the panel to hold it in place. Surely the recently-finished €1.6 million refurbishment deserved better!

Hazardous solutions

It seems efforts are being made to make Ġlormu Cassar Avenue the hub of dangerous practices. The road leading to the Office of the Prime Minister is in shambles, with new hazards cropping up each day. Last week, exposed wires could be seen at the lower end while lose bricks filled a gap in the wall above the newly-refurbished bus terminus. Is this the best they can do?

No respect

Sliema residents are complaining about a supermarket in Creche Street, which for many weeks has, at least in the eyes of the public, encroached onto the pavement forcing commuters to walk on the road notwithstanding the oncoming traffic. Can the relevant authority look into it, please?

Filthy state

Rubbish bags, and other hazardous materials, are being regularly dumped in a corner of a seemingly abandoned building underlying a block of flats in Giorgio Mitrovich Street, Msida. The bags are collected but leftovers and loose rubbish remain, often attracting flies, cockroaches and other vermin. Also, broken glass, bulky material and other hazardous waste is being dumped there regularly.
