Pedestrians walking on the pavement in Regional Road, Msida, have no alternative but to get off the pavement and walk on the road because the trees are not being pruned. Is it possible nobody in authority spots these things and ensure they are remedied soonest? Or are they only interested in those areas where people in power have their offices?

Bad impression

Disembarking cruise liner passengers who needed to use the men’s toilets at Valletta Waterfront last week were faced with a funny situation were it not so sad. The door was being kept open by a broomstick, forcing those who wanted to walk inside to go underneath it. There was no soap containers and the hand dryer was out of order. To add insult to injury, the whole area was stinking. Good first impressions indeed!

Dangerous practice

Workmen carrying out maintenance work at Ġlormu Cassar Avenue in Valletta, last week did not appear too safety-conscious, in fact, no safety precautions were evident. No helmets or harnesses were in sight. This happened just steps away from the Office of the Prime Minister.

No thoroughfare

One of the lanes in Pantar Road, leading from Triq Durumblat to Valletta Road, Mosta, has been closed to traffic for weeks, if not months, on end. This is causing congestions and long traffic queues at certain times of the day. Can the job be speeded up, perhaps continuing throughout the night too?

Costly parking

Are Transport Malta or the Mdina local council aware that parking attendants in the area known as Il-Foss, just outside the old capital, have the cheek to inform motorists the minimum parking fee is €1? Are they allowed to do so? Indeed, are they authorised to be there?

Blind spot

Pedestrians at Fleur-De-Lys are complaining that delivery trucks and vehicles stopping outside an outlet near the Bank of Valletta branch often block the way of those using the crossing strip. If a sizeable vehicle is parked there, oncoming motorists might even have problems seeing the lights. It should be noted that the area is close to a public school, used by many young children daily.
