The little green patch by the Mensija chapel in Triq il-Baħar l-Iswed, San Ġwann, is no longer just in a pitiful state but has now become a health hazard. The rubbish bin is rarely emptied, which results in heaps of rubbish collecting nearby for weeks on end. Reports to the local council have fallen on deaf ears. What a shame!

Unfinished business

Bus commuters and pedestrians at the Birkirkara interchange are complaining about a bus shelter that was never fully completed. The metal skeleton in place poses a risk to passers-by not aware of the metal bars. Malta Public Transport has already been informed but nothing was done.

Bus cards

With so many Tallinja cards issued without names and photos, does the public transport operator not feel it is facilitating the pilfering of such cards? Many have e-mailed the company to find out when they will be getting the complete cards and, each time, they are met with the same reply: “Yes, eventually”. How inefficient!

Disgusting practice

Why is it that mountains of rubbish piled up at the sides of the roads seems to go unnoticed? This was the case in Floriana last week as mounds of rubbish could be seen strewn across one of the side streets leading to St Anne Street. The authorities need to do something about this disgusting practice, which, in reality, happens not just in Floriana but in many parts of the islands.

Complete waste

On Wednesday last week, parts of St Paul Street in Valletta were resurfaced as part of the Castille Square project. The day before, two parking bays were painted there, only to be destroyed the next day when the tarmac was laid. Isn’t this a waste of resources? Better planning was definitely needed. Does anybody ensure such things do not happen?
