The upkeep of the Kitchen Garden, behind San Anton Palace, in Attard, is being neglected, resulting in the area becoming unsafe for the many young children who play there. There is a general air of untidiness, with the roundabout area left littered with pigeon droppings. To make matters worse, damaged equipment, such as slides, has not been replaced. Clearly, better supervision and regular maintenance are urgently required.

Job well done

Transport Malta has heeded complaints made by motorists about a traffic island that was disrupting the traffic flow at Marsascala bypass and which has now been removed. It’s not often that action is taken when complaints are filed. Well done and keep it up.

Litter bugs

A sign that warns against unlawful waste disposal is evidently being blatantly ignored in Mġarr. There is definitely need for better monitoring of the area both to serve as a deterrent and also to catch irresponsible litter bugs. That would then ensure the fines listed in the notice can be imposed.

Parking abuse

Shouldn’t Merchants Street, Valletta, be free of cars since it is a pedestrian area? Why are government cars parked there, day in day out? This obvious abuse of power should stop and there should be no concessions for official vehicles. The capital deserves better respect and the powers- that-be must lead by example.

Static eyesore

An Opel Astra, abandoned for over a year in Depiro Street, corner with Dingli Street, Sliema, remains there. The matter had been raised through this column in August but the vehicle is still in the same spot. Wardens have posted notices on the windscreen but to no avail. Are some more equal than others?
