Telephony companies have decided to leave no payment choice to Home Pack customers. They have to pay through direct debit or be subjected to a monthly extra charge. One company is charging €2 for every bill and an extra €2 if the bill is sent by mail. In the age when there is much talk about customers’ rights, can anyone explain this state of affairs?
Going green?
This rubbish has been outside Vendome Tower, in Marsaxlokk, for over two weeks. The local council was informed many times but to no avail. The same can be said about weeds on the pavements in the same area.
Immediate action
Well done to the owners of a private property in Stella Maris Street, Sliema, who took it upon themselves to fix a stone slab that had been damaged by a truck and which featured in this column last week. Civic sense at its very best.
A new surface
Reggie Miller Street, between Rue D’Argens and Manuel Dimech Street, in Gżira needs to be resurfaced. If the present situation persists it is very likely the local council will have to fork out compensation to motorists.
Alien cars
Can Transport Malta and/or the Commissioner of Police inform the public why cars with foreign numbers plates are still on our roads? Most of them are not even insured. Who will compensate victims in case of an accident? The Times of Malta recently quoted a Transport Malta official saying such vehicles have one month to register. Luxury cars bearing Arabic number plates have been noticed in the Sliema area for much longer than a month.
It smells
Welcome to Mdina. The thousands of visitors to the Silent City are greeted with an offensive stench of animal urine. The owners of horse-drawn cabs in the old city should clean up the area regularly and the local council should ensure the place is hosed regularly.
