The photo shows illegal parking at the bottom end of C. De Brocktorff Street, Msida, with cars obstructing the entry to the street from near Muscat’s Garage. Traffic has to manoeuvre to the middle of the road, while pedestrians also have to walk in the middle and risk being run over as there is no pavement.
Danger from balcony
A balcony sited in the narrowest part of Main Street, Lija, is posing a danger to both pedestrians and cars driving through. The owners of the property should see to it immediately.
Blocked pavements
Pavements in several areas of Santa Maria Estate, Mellieħa are blocked by over-grown trees, bushes and other obstacles. The local council should ensure that owners of the plots trim the trees and bushes. If they do not take action the council should do it and send the bill to the owners.
Victoria fish market
The Victoria fish market has been relocated from It-Tokk to St Francis Square in Victoria. An average of three fishmongers a day have been selling their wares for the last few months. However, with summer setting in, the disgusting stench emanating from the site is becoming unbearable for all, making this location tacky and shabby. The Gozo Ministry is also located in this square. The area could at least be power-washed often and regularly.
Billboard bonanza
Why is every nook and cranny of valued green enclanves being invaded by billboards, apparently with the blessing of the planning authority? Why can’t we enjoy what’s left of our green spots?
