Hundreds of people turned up for the annual scouts and guides parade in Valletta on April 26. Many were left flabberghasted that cars were allowed on to Merchants Street right in the path of the parade. The police should have called in the tow trucks.

No promoter of education

The recycling bins on the pavement at the school gate entrance in Qrejten Street, Msida, are an unpleasant sight to students, staff and visitors to the centre. Pedestrians are also unable to use the pavement at this dangerous corner.

Pavement hogging

The owners of this outlet, soon opening in Ibraġ Road, near the church, decided to tile the public pavement to match their interior. Has this been approved by Mepa – or the local council? When the tiles were being laid, pedestrians were forced to walk right next to the traffic. Better sense should prevail.

Safety first

The picture shows the state of Birkirkara Road in Kappara. Trenching works have been ongoing for quite some time, however, the machiney now seems to have developed some fault and trenching stopped about two weeks ago without any indication of when the work will resume. This is a two-way road. There is no signage and/or hazard lights to indicate the danger. Who is responsible to ensure that this potential danger is eliminated before a serious accident occurs?
