Residents of Pedidalwett Street, in St Andrews are wondering why a path was cut recently in the vegetation growing in Wied Mejxu. They know that the owners of garages lying beneath their houses had recently wanted to open up the back of the garages giving into the valley, to which the residents objected. The residents wonder if the two have some sinister connection.

Some parkers make it a pleasure for a car owner to leave one's car in their care; others inexplicably disappear when they have been tipped even though this is not required at law. However, it is worrying when those with an ADT badge of office are willy-nilly replaced, in the course of a morning, with other individuals who do not wear this item. What, exactly, is the position of a driver who willingly leaves his car keys in place because there are no vacant places and then finds items missing from his vehicle?

Meanwhile, it is annoying to note that if a driver has a complaint to make against a particular parker, be he one appointed by the ADT or a self-styled one, the plaintiff would have to make a personal appearance at the tribunal. No doubt, many fear retribution; so the question begs itself - cannot someone from the ADT itself try out the different places that have attracted complaints, thus demonstrating goodwill?

Several local franchises and agents used to excuse themselves for not having the same customer clubs and giveaways that are available abroad with the excuse that they were "only for the continent". On the assumption that this meant "Europe", what is their position now?

Examination room

One day, perhaps, students will sit for important examinations in places other than those currently in use, of the type of Fort St Elmo. The buildings are not conducive to a sense of well-being - even if they had to be painted and spruced up. Cannot something better be offered to tomorrow's generation or is it just one of those traditions that die hard?

Beastly Conditions

After the abattoir in Gozo was "temporarily" closed because it was not up to (European Union) standard, one would have thought that the situation would be remedied forthwith so that it would be able to start processing meat once more. However, this seems a long time in coming. Meanwhile, people who are unlucky enough to share a trip from Gozo with a cargo of swine, with noses pegged shut, luckily live to tell the tale.
