An on-site inquiry was held on Wednesday morning as part of the compilation of evidence into the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

Inspector Keith Arnaud started off at the vantage point in Bidnija, overlooking the area where her car was exploded by a bomb last October, pointing out various locations to the magistrate.

Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit has already ruled that there is enough evidence for the three to stand trial, but so far has not ruled on an application for bail.

Three men - the Degiorgio brothers George and Alfred and Vincent Muscat - stand accused of the murder. They have pleaded not guilty.

Heavily-armed police presence are at the site, along with the three accused, their lawyers and lawyer Jason Azzopardi, who is appearing on the family's behalf.

Alfred Degiorgio on Wednesday filed a judicial protest insisting that the journalist's laptop was needed for investigations.
